Dear supporters of Surfing Salone,
We would like to start by expressing our gratitude for all the support, positive responses and donations we have received from over the world. This has given both us and the project an enormous boost and we have almost completed our funding. Thank you all!
We were planning on leaving for Sierra Leone this week, but have decided to postpone our trip: West Africa is currently under serious threat of an outbreak of the Ebola virus, the magnitude of which is not yet clear. As we will be traveling with a group from Sierra Leone to Liberia (21 cases and 16 deaths) we have decided that this is a risk not worth taking. We are responsible for the crew but also for the group of young local surfers we are traveling with.
This has been a tough decision to make, especially since we were very excited to start our adventure (and with 'our adventure' we also include the boys from the surf club). We will however use the extra time for further preparation of our production. We are now exploring the possibilities for our new visit, which will definitely take place before the end of the year.
We would like to thank you once more for your support so far and trust you will keep supporting Surfing Salone. Naturally we will keep you posted.
The Surfing Salone team
